According to expanded ramblings there are 70 million users on Pinterest! Are you one of them?
If your not, your business could be missing out. You don’t have to have a physical product to make use of Pinterest and also don’t have to be a woman (although 80% of the users are woman, but the number of men is steadily increasing)
Pinterest is actually a pretty easy social media platform to set up and just like any other, it’s going to need content to start generating traffic on its own. In the meantime, you can direct your audience over from the platforms that you have that are already performing well.
There is nothing wrong with having a separate account for fun for yourself and one for your business, but if you are your brand, you may want to keep them incorporated and keep some of the boards private (an easy click in the board settings) Note: If a board starts private, it can be made public, but once it’s public, it can’t be made private again. I have one account for everything, but if you have multiple businesses or are unsure, you can always ask your business mentor for the best strategy.
Here are some Pinterest Success Basics:
1. Completed Keyword Rich Bio: This does NOT mean fill your description full of hashtags. As a matter of fact, it is rather tacky. Use words that describe you and your business. Be fun, but use words that people would search for to find you.
2. Verified Web Address: Getting your website verified by Pinterest is easier now than it was initially. The basics behind it is that Pinterest gives you a little piece of code that goes into the backend of your website. It’s the same kind of credential that you get when you get the checkmark from Facebook or Twitter. If you have more than one website, you can only verify one on each account for now. You can always add the other one in your bio.
3. Link Your Social Media Profiles: For now, you can connect with Facebook, Twitter and G+. You can link to them in your account settings.
4. Profile Photo: As a potential customer, I don’t need to see your logo unless you are a big brand like Pepsi. WHO am I doing business with? Let me see your smiling face!
5. Filled out Board Descriptions: The board description is a great place to get more SEO by using keywords. The board should also be informative and be a taste of what kind of pins your audience can expect on that board. If you don’t have a description, you are doing yourself a disservice. The same with your board titles, make them catchy, but have some type of keyword strategy associated with it for you to be easier to find.
