Business owners should make the most of their time, all the time. That includes making meals at home. It can be hard at the end of the day, whether you work from home or you go to an office, to want to cook. I know the feeling all too well. Your mind and body are exhausted and the last thing you want to do is dirty a bunch of dishes only to have to clean them up at the end of the meal. Picking up the telephone to order out always seems like such an easier option.

It is going to take some work on your behalf and it will become something that you need to keep up with every week. Not only will this save you money from take out, but it will also save you calories and do wonders for your health. You can control what goes into your mouth and it will make a big impact on how you feel. Without all that excess salt, chemicals and fat, your body will work better and you may not even feel so sluggish after the end of a rough day. You may be able to keep on going!

Meal planning can become a life saver for a busy business owner. Now, you may think that you don’t have the time to do it. Actually, you do if you discipline yourself to make it a routine. Here are some steps to get you started:

Select the day of the week that you are either off or have more hours of the day than you normally do. If you don’t think that you have one, somewhere in your days there is time that you can cut back. We all have the same 24 hours in the day, it’s all in how we use them.

After you pick the day, this will be your designated meal prep day. This is the day that you will plan and cook the meals that you are going to it for the following week. If you do all of the work on one day of the week, you will have an easy ride for the rest of the week. These meals don’t have to be 5-star restaurant quality. You can make healthy meals relatively quickly. The longest part is usually cooking all of the proteins.

Once you have your meals prepared, or at least the longer parts that you need done in advance, on the night of the meal you will have very little, if anything to do. You can pop it into the microwave or oven faster than it would take for the pizza guy to come to your door. 

Once you get into the habit, it will become second nature for you. If your family comes home at all different times, each person can even pop their own container in to re-heat. It all comes with time and some planning, but doing it will be well worth it for your business, your family and your personal health.
