Having a business is never easy. Most of the time it can be downright hard. Maybe you are struggling with all of the social media changes and you are not getting the reach that you once did. Perhaps you have had a decrease in sales and are trying to make sure that you hit your goals. Maybe things at home are effecting you and your business is suffering.
No matter what the reason, business has its ups and downs. When business is down, it is very easy to stay depressed about it instead of trying new methods or trying to see the bright side. I know how you feel and it is NOT easy.
When you feel as if you have nothing to be happy about or grateful for, one way to shake yourself out of it is with a Gratitude Journal. This is different than your regular journal where you write down all your thoughts and feelings on your business and personal life. This is a private place where you can list 3-5 things per day that you are grateful for in your life.
This exercise should be completed even on good days. This should be something that you do each day. It is very easy when things are going well to forget to be grateful for the things that you have too.
What you write down doesn’t have to be business related. It can be personal. Make this an item on your to-do list that you do each day so that you don’t forget to do it. When you have times when you are feeling down or things are not going as well as they could, look down at your gratitude journal and remember all of the things that you are thankful. Life can always be worse and it can be better. Don’t overlook the good that is in your life and your business.
On Facebook, there is also an activity that I see a lot of people doing called 100 Days of Happy. This asks that each day you take a photo of something in your life with that hashtag that made you happy, no matter how small it may mean to someone else. These are things that are important to you. By doing both of these activities together, it will be much easier for you to see the bright side when things aren’t going the way you expected. This will help you to be a happier, healthier business owner.
Do you keep a gratitude journal or have done the 100 days challenge? I’d love to hear how it has impacted you.
