Did you ever want to walk into your office and start work for the day and just be yourself? I know that I sure did. One of the biggest advantages you have being a small business owner is that you get the freedom to be yourself. Social media is changing the way that people choose whom they will shop with forever. People want to feel connection to YOU. Not what you sell or your direct sales company, but you.
Take a minute to soak that in.
One of the reasons that you became a business owner to begin with was to have freedom right? So why aren’t you taking advantage of it? If you don’t know exactly what I mean, let me explain it a little more clearly. What you don’t want to do is speak to your audience and be sterile all the time. The whole reason people follow you on social media is to learn more about you. They do not want to hear about all the items that are on sale or how awesome your product is all day long. What makes you unique?
As you can see from this blog, my husband and I are geeks. We are proud of it! We love science fiction and fantasy and fun things in that genre, but you knew that already. Maybe that is why you are here reading this, because you like the originality. I hope that it is. 🙂 I’m quirky. I’m silly, but I get the job done accurately. When I talk on social media, I sound the same way I would as if you were speaking to me face to face. I don’t pretend to be someone else. Your audience doesn’t want you to pretend to be someone else either.
It’s not too late to start if you haven’t already. I know that it may seem a little strange and uncomfortable to bring the world into your home, but it really is fun. People want to know what it is like behind the scenes in your world. What are you eating? Where are you going? What are you doing? Who are you with? You audience really wants to know these things. Here is the best part: when they see the occasional product information go by, they won’t be desensitized and actually look at. If your chose your target audience correctly, they may just buy it!
What is one thing that you can do to make yourself more personable? What makes you shine? Show me where you hang out on social media so I can take a peek into your world!
