An Intro to Pinterest Messaging and How To Send Your First Message

Social media has always been about being social, but if you haven’t been leveraging Pinterest it’s a great time to start. Though it may not appear social at first glance, Pinterest has always had a means of talking, but not nearly as easily as having the messenger.

Here’s a quick video on using it:

With the messenger it is much easier to send someone a pin that you like instead of emailing it AND you can have a conversation. Here’s how you do it:

At the top right hand corner of your screen there are two little pins. Click it.

Previously, all that was shown was your notifications. Now it has a section that says “Messages”

To send a message Click Messages

Start typing in the pinner’s name or handle it and it will auto populate. Click their name to select or select more pinners.

Click Next

You will now be able to send them a message. Just start typing!

To send them a pin, simply drop and drag it to the message window.

If you have already clicked on the pin and the picture if fully blown up, it does not drop and drag into the window. Do it from your board.

If you want to send again to the same person you can go back to the messages window and people that you have already sent a pin to will already be showing.

Pinterest Messengers looks a lot like the new Facebook Messenger app because the profile picture floats like the FB chat heads in the bottom left hand corner of your screen.

You can click the “X” on the top left of the chat head to click it away.

Imagine the possibility of people being able to ask you questions and being able to drop and the the blog posts or products that has the answers to their questions!

Unlike making comments on users pins — which is still important — this is a way to really carry on the conversation and if they see it live, you can communicate in REAL TIME!!

No more waiting on an email that says you are getting a comment to a pin!

Hop on over to visit me on Pinterest and send me a message and your favorite pin to test it out! I’d love to hear from you!
