Most direct sales representatives have one big factor working against them; they all look the same. If you have seen one, you have seen them all. Personal pages filled with “join my team” or product pictures (which is against Facebook TOS anyways), and business pages that are riddled with cover photos scrawled with their comapny logo. Not a single drop of their personality to be seen. Images in direct sales can be a great tool in recruiting and in product sales when used properly. There is nothing wrong with using the photos that are provided by the company every once in a while, but when you look like just another replicated paper doll, you are not going to stand out in the crowd.
How to Take Advantage of Images in Direct Sales
The biggest direct sales issue when it comes to images is that EVERYTHING is being pulled from the company websites or what the company offers. Everyone has the same images going up at the same time. Cover photos, sales images, product images and recruiting images are all identical. There is nothing distinct. No personality of the person selling it. No voice.
Customers are buying the person and the value they offer, not the product. The product is a bi-product of value. Tweet this
For a direct seller to stand out, they need something that is unique. There are lots of resources that are available to direct sellers to use to create their own images — dependent on the company — except that most won’t take advantage of it. It is far easier to go and download and upload what is created instead of creating something original. This is the biggest downfall.
Most companies will have a place where product images can be downloaded. Sometimes are already transparent for easy use. These images can be used to create unique images that can belong only to the direct seller and their team if they decide to share what they have created. Original creations are more likely to be shared and also show the personality of the seller. Why blend in when you can stand out?
What to put on these images is just as important as the products featured. Here are some examples of what can be used with a product image:
Fun Phrases (Pinterest is great for finding these)
The idea is to be original! If you are struggling with content, use what the company provides, but create an original image! Use your creativity to create something of value and that makes you an authority in your product.
Try as they might, some people just do not wanto create their own and that is OK! I love creating graphics for struggling business owners to use. Point me in the right direction and I can channel your inner artist and make you graphics you will love!
