The time has come! Your business is booming and wonderful things are happening. Orders are coming in, customers are asking questions, interacting more on social media and everything is great except you are working a lot more hours than you were before. In the beginning it was easy to handle everything on your own because you were just starting out and weren’t getting bombarded, but the busier you got the more things there were to get accomplished. It is time for you to bring in a Virtual Assistant to help you work less hours and keep you focused on growing your business.
Now the questions becomes, how do you select the Virtual Assistant that is right for your business? Here are some tips for hiring the right VA for your business:
1. Select a VA who complements you ~ You don’t want to hire a VA with the same skills and talents as you. Look for someone who is good at the things that you struggle with or can do things that you dislike doing. If you are doing something that you don’t enjoy, you won’t give it 110% so find someone that is proficient and likes it. They will do a great job for you.
2. All VA’s are not alike ~ Virtual Assistants come from all different backgrounds, educations and specialties. No two will ever be the same. When you are searching for your VA, realize that all of them can’t do everything. Look for someone that has what you are looking for as one of their key areas over someone that is a jack of all trades and a master of none.
3. Attitude is Everything ~ You can glean a lot of information from a first impression for your Virtual Assistant. How do they respond to you? Do they use proper grammar? Are the polite and thoughtful? Are they timely? Are they coachable? Are they positive and motivated? Does it feel like they are smiling from what they say/write to you? This person could potentially be doing client care for you so you definitely want someone that is going to be genuine with your customers.
4. Ask Questions ~ When you are reviewing your VA’s website, keep in mind that the packages offered are generally not the only services that VA will provide. Be sure to look at contacting them if you need something that is not listed or parts of different packages. Often times ( as with the case of myself) every single service that a Virtual Assistant can provide to serve you is not listed on the website. It is encouraged to ask if what you need is something that they offer even if you don’t see it.
