Did this picture catch your eye and make you smile?
In your business it is very easy to focus so much on your numbers and keeping up with the competition that you forget to have FUN. Those statistics are all very important, but sometimes your audience need a little break from the norm, especially in your posts on social media. If you are notorious for always posting ways that coaching can benefit you, how to lose weight or advertising your latest special, it can get boring very quickly. Don’t take yourself so seriously!
To have some fun, spend some time emphasizing on what you are doing during the holidays. This all goes back to just being yourself and showing some behind the scenes footage into your life with your audience. Don’t be afraid to be a little silly! Your customers want to know that they are dealing with a real person and not someone who is perfect all the time. I know that when all I see is perfection in a business owner I tend to find them much less believable.
Want to really stand out from the crowd? Do you make funny faces that make your family laugh or do you have a family pet that is just too adorable for words? Take pictures of it and put it on your social media platforms. When these kind of items are interjected into your everyday social media stream, people will look forward to seeing what you are doing and won’t become desensitized to your posts so when you do put in a product or special here and there they will be looking and won’t just delete it.
Do you have trouble remembering to not think all business? Write yourself some silly notes and put them as reminders on your phone, on your calendar or give them to your virtual assistant to remind you. I know that some of the most fun that I have with my clients is when I am just being myself and giving them the encouragement that they need and to make them smile. When things get hectic no one wants someone that is going to be too calm or going all over the place to make them even more upset. My job is to help them laugh, calm down and get done what they need to do, even if it means me not taking myself so seriously.
Here is your homework: As you go on throughout your day, especially the holidays and silly things happen, capture them. Even if you don’t have time to post them right away, hang onto them for a day when things are going too seriously and schedule them. You can take photos on your camera roll and use them later on places like Instagram for when you are feeling stuck. That trick works for me all the time and I hope it works for you too. Now go LAUGH!
