As your business continues to grow, you are going to need to start to pick and choose your battles. In the beginning you didn’t have as many clients or projects to work on so you had plenty of time to do all the little things by yourself until business began to pick up. Continuing to do it all even after your business is flourishing is going to have you losing money very quickly.

I know that it can be hard to let go of the reins and get some help. Trusting another person to help you and to be as effective as you  can be very challenging and scary. Maybe the problem is that you are not efficient at all and you need to ask for help so that you can get more completed. You are slowly but surely going to start putting more and more items on your plate, but unless you start eating some of them or removing them, that plate is going to overflow.

When you are being productive, you are doing things in your business that make you money. For example your time is spent working on such items as:  information products, video series, webinars, scanning your data, listening to your audience and more. All of the other things that can not be done only by you have been outsourced to someone. By spending the money on your virtual assistant, you are going to get even greater rewards in return because you are making the business grow. Anything that you are not good at, or don’t know how to do you give to someone else that knows what they are doing. It is not worth your time to try and learn something that is going to waste your valuable time.

If you are busy, you are doing everything – literally. By the time you get everything done that is required to operate your business you hardly have any time left to work on money making activities. Sometimes this happens because you don’t want to let go or you don’t think that you have the money to do it. Deep down, you may be scared to have the time to do what you want to do and make the dreams for your business a reality. No matter what the reason is, the busy home business owner is doing just that: busy work.

Do you know which category you fall into? Is it the category that you want to be in? If it’s not you are going to need to make some changes and create a plan of attack! First thing that you will want to do is go day by day and write down all of the business activities and how long they take. This will help you see where you are bleeding time.

Next, separate the tasks out of that list that only you can do such as writing your blog posts, recording your videos etc… What remains is all the potential time  and activities that you could outsource.  Now you can get a feel for how much help you need. If its not quite time yet, don’t worry. This is a great exercise to do anyways just to know where your time goes.

Please keep this mind: do not outsource if it is going to put you into a bind financially.  Also don’t use money as your excuse to ignore when opportunities for help present themselves.

Do you need some help going through that activity or determining which tasks you should or should not outsource? Reach out to me on Facebook and let me know how I can serve you.
